After months of anticipation, it finally happened – my first VeeamON!
Following a roughly 9.5-hour flight from Frankfurt to Miami, I headed to the event venue, the Diplomat Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale.
Day one was Partner Day, where we gathered with all Veeam partners to get exclusive insights on upcoming features and directions from Veeam.
Veeam reiterated its commitment to being a partner-focused company, emphasizing its dedication to partner development. This is evident in the continuous enhancement of the partner program, including the Veeam Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) program.
Over the next two days, several exciting updates were announced:

- Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager

I’m particularly excited about the advancements in the Veeam Hardened Repository. The aim is to enhance support from Veeam and partners and establish a secure standard:
Veeam Hardened Repository ISO:
- Transition to Rocky Linux
- DISA STIG profiles
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux compatibility
- 10 years of support
- User-friendly configuration wizard (configurator)
Next Step: Public Beta Support Requirement: Hardware must meet the Red Hat compatibility list!
VBR goes Linux:
Veeam has announced that VBR on Linux is planned for the near future. With that Veeam will carry on the security consciousness and enable enterprise linux distributions to become hosting OS for VBR. With that, high availability (HA) will also be avabilable so Veeam is focussing on the enterprise market.
Having met many new people, I look back exhausted but satisfied on my first and highly successful VeeamON 2024. I’m eager to implement the planned features and insights and eagerly await the final timeline for the new features.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be testing the key features and updates in the lab and discussing them here. Stay tuned!
